Chief Kepuha

Bas always loved statues. The one of Chief Kepuha is one of his favorites. He was a great Chamorro chief. To the Chamorros, Chief Quipuha represented their ancestors, their struggles against the conquerors and the evolution of change to life on Guam. His statue at the loop in downtown Agana (Hagåtña) just before you get to Chamorro Village serves as a reminder of this Chamorro leader of the past. The statue at Hagåtñå represents a great Chamorro warrior, respected and faithful leader.

Bas houdt heel veel van standbeelden. Die van opperhoofd Kepuha is eentje van zijn favorieten. Volgens de chamorro’s repesenteerde hij zijn voorouders, hun gevecht tegen de overwinnaars en de veranderingen in Guam. Zijn standbeeld staat in lus van Agana. Hij repesenteert een grote Chamorro krijgsman en een gerespecteerd en trouwe leider.
