This year we celebrated Saint-Nicolas in Guam. A few weeks before we started singing all the songs at home. Bas new a lot by hart en Ekko new a few pieces en Luna was saying ‘klaas, klaas’. It was os much fun. Together with the Garden day kids we out our shoe ready. First we told them the story (I sang a piece of a song each time because everything I know about him is through those songs). About the Saint, Black peter and the white horse ‘bad wheather today’, about the bag, the presents, the big book, the steamboat and more. They listened very attentively and all the kids wrote a letter and drew a picture of Saint-Nicolas. It was so beautiful, I loved their faces, their hope, anticipation, their tust and their happiness about what was to come.
When Bas, Ekko and Luna woke up the next morning they ran to their shoe and opened the present from Saint-Nicolas and were super happy!
Dit jaar werd de komst van de Sint uitvoerig gevierd in Guam. Weken vooraf warden er volop liedjes gezongen in huis. Bas kende er veel van buiten en Ekko wist ook stukjes en Luna liep ‘klaas, klaas’ te roepen. Het was echt lol! We hadden zoveel plezier met de liedjes. Samen met de kindjes van Garden Day zetten we onze schoen klaar. Eerst vertelde ik hen aan de hand van wat ik weet van liedjes (het is allemaal door de liedjes) het verhaal van de Sint, zwarte piet en het witte paard ‘slecht weer vandaag’, over de zak, de cadeautje, het grote boek, de stoomboot en nog veel meer. Ze luisterden aandachtig en alle kindjes schreven een mooie brief en tekenden de Sint. Het was wondermooi, ik genoot van hun gezichten, hun hoop, verwachting, hun vertrouwen en hun geluk om wat komen zou.
Wanneer Bas, Ekko en Luna opstonden ‘s ochtends stormden ze naar hun schoen en openden het cadeautje van de Sint en waren dolgelukkig!
